Color Trends, Textures and Designs for Home Décor
Simplify Your Life - Home Décor that Fits the Way You Live
The trend for DIY ideas, color, design and décor is simply "Shades of Gray & Back to Nature and Home."
This season the market will be focusing on local, homemade, crafty, creative one-of-a kind items.
Getting back to nature by using gray and earth tones, with splashes of soft pastel to bold natural colors is on the board if you’re keeping up with the designer world trend.
Although a splash of color has made its way into the scene for the entire year, Decorating in White is still on ranked highly.
There are mixed reviews in this year's color trends, and I tend to agree. Some are thinking they need to break out of the old patterns and try something new, while others are sticking to what they have making simple changes around the house.
Dramatic changes to kitchens don't seem to be in this year's plans, but easy fix makeovers for bedrooms and baths are up in this year’s home renovations.
In minimizing expenses it is suggested that if something is needed, make it relevant to the situation but also keep it natural and environmentally safe.

Neutral Tone Focus: Simplify - Recover, Reuse, Recycle
If you’re interested in the newest craze in color, style or chic for this season, take a look at some of the top “fashion” world ideas in decorating. You will find these ideas demonstrated throughout this site.
-
To begin, one must go for the environmentally safe approach in whatever design or style they are hoping to achieve. That is the bottom line.
-
Anything bird or butterflies are in this year, taking us back to nature. Use birdcages for plants and floral arrangements indoors and outdoors.
-
Textiles: anything that is flexible, that takes on a subtle natural look. Weaves, soft curves, repeated patterns like faded stripes or checks, natural colors in yard fences and lattice.
-
Pastel synthetic colored materials that are mesh or flashy.
-
Furnishings and Décor: textured surfaces, one of a kind patterns, lacey, ruffles, Damask, Jacquard, and Brocade, patterns, dyed fabrics, animal prints or pillows and metals.
-
Mirror - Mirror: Embroidery adds texture to an interior, while mirrors and mirrored surfaces in lamps, trays or tables make spaces sparkle and look bigger. An example of this is using glass-door cabinets to showcase your favorite items with mirrors mounted (or standing) behind them for added highlights.
-
Clean simple look: Space saving hanging lamps and beds with storage units.
-
Display artwork on walls and avoid cluttering shelves with knick knacks. Keep a few larger pieces on display that are the same color, but direct opposite to the wall color.
-
Quilts, chenille blankets and throws displayed on the walls or draped over seating pieces.
-
Want to do some painting but you only have bright colors on hand? Tone down a bright color with a touch of brown to make it more neutral, yet bold.
Color trends experts say are "in" this year.
Shades of Gray
Gray is the new white or black
with touches of white, neutral and pastels.

Keep Your Purple
...but add to it.
Bursting with Orange is the New "Must Have"
Think pastel orange, or so the designers say.
Orange in design for home,
yard or fashion is all the rave.

Earth Tones Give Way to Hues of Blue & Green - Paint it, Show it, Live in it.
An old hutch is renewed by painting it with ocean blue paint. Keeping with the natural theme are wicker baskets and white accessories. Yes, white is still very cool and chic! Place hutch in front of a lighter colored wall to create a distinct contrast.

Living Rooms - Bringing it Inside - Outdoor Bold Hues Create Distinctive Looks
I remember walking along the beach side in South Jersey where I would see tall, flowing goldenrod reeds. Outdoorsy colors are back. Colors of the rainbow with softer shades of purple/violet, lime green, yellows, blues and orange are big. Anything orange actually.

Your garden can be the talk of the town by making a statement in the fence you select. Part of keeping with nature this year is an outstanding sleeve design in fencing.

Sleeve fences are a beautiful way to break up a long and/or dull fence into sections. Look at several distinct styles such as: Black Bamboo, Natural Bamboo, and a mixture of Black, Natural bamboos and brush.
